Springfield, Ohio- The Clark County Combined Health District (CCCHD), Springfield Ohio Urban Plantfolk (SOUP), and other local community groups partnered with the Springfield City Schools (SCSD) to organize, stock, and staff farm stands at two local schools. The farm stands were offered in two locations this year: Perrin Woods Elementary, located at 431 West John Street, and Keifer/School of Innovation, located at 601 Selma Road. The stands ran weekly, on Friday, from June through September.
The farm stands offered a variety of fresh, locally grown produce each week. Over $2,800 in produce was purchased from Pendleton’s Produce, a local grower. The stands served a total of 429 customers at both locations. Excess produce was donated to the Free Store. The farm stands received a positive response from the community, and are expected to run again in the 2019 season.
