Clark County Combined Health District to Offer Reproductive Health and Wellness Services at Rocking Horse Community Health Center
Springfield, Ohio- The Clark County Combined Health District (CCCHD) will be expanding their Reproductive Health and Wellness services to include clinic hours at Rocking Horse Community Health Center. The expansion will offer Clark County residents increased access to services that address issues of sexual health, including family planning.
Currently, CCCHD offers Reproductive Health and Wellness clinic hours at the Home Road location of the health department on Mondays and Thursdays. Beginning January 21, 2020, clinic hours will be expanded to include Tuesday afternoons at Rocking Horse Community Health Center. Services can be accessed by anyone 13 years or older without parental permission according to Ohio law. Services include: pregnancy testing, pelvic exams, PAP smears, testicular exams, STD testing and treatment, HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, birth control services, and Hepatitis A, B and C testing. A sliding fee scale is used to determine costs to those that do not have insurance or for those with insurance that cannot be billed. Clients will not be turned away for inability to pay.
Sexually transmitted disease rates in Clark County have been on the rise over the last 5 years. According to the 2019 Community Health Assessment, Clark County rates for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis are all higher than the state averages. Additionally, the teen birth rate is the 5th highest in the state with 1 in 25 teen girls giving birth every year in Clark County.
