Springfield, Ohio- The Clark County Combined Health District (CCCHD) and the City of New Carlisle will be partnering with the New Carlisle Cub Scout Pack #220 to offer a Family Bike Ride event on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 9am in Smith Park in New Carlisle. This event offers fitness and wellness activities to riders of all ages and levels, with activities for the whole family. Sign up is not necessary – just bring your bike on Saturday and enjoy the activities.
The first 50 children at the event will receive a FREE bike helmet, courtesy of the Clark County Creating Healthy Communities coalition. The Cub Scouts will provide bike safety information and a bike rodeo event for all participants. Cycle Clark County will be leading a family-friendly ride along the trails adjacent to the park, starting in Smith Park just after the Bike Rodeo, at approximately 9:30am. Once you are finished with the Bike Ride event, check out the New Carlisle Farmer’s Market, which is open in downtown New Carlisle every Saturday from 10AM-2PM.
Why is this important? Clark County ranks high in obesity rates in both adults and children. The county also reports low rates of physical activity. Exercise can be a problem in rural areas as a result of busy and dangerous roadways that may not be conducive to family walks. Finally, we hope that members of the community may utilize some of the resources that are free or low cost to them, including bike trails and parks.
