Emergency Preparedness
The Clark County Combined Health District is improving it’s capacity to respond to public health emergencies by enhancing agency response as well as it’s ability to work with partner agencies and elected officials.
Bioterrorism PreparednessBioterrorism is the intentional use of an infectious agent to cause illness. Bioterrorism preparedness has been a national priority. The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has worked with state and local health departments to identify and to respond to bioterrorism events for several years. The Federal response to bioterrorism includes plans for distribution of medications, medical supplies, and if necessary, vaccines to protect an affected community.
The Clark County Combined Health District is aware of the need to be prepared for bioterrorism. For the past several years the health district has worked with the local medical community to increase the ability to detect and respond to a bioterrorist attack. Clark County has developed bioterrorism response plan along with the Ohio Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Clark County Combined Health District also acts proactively by participating in emergency training exercises and mock emergencies to evaluate local emergency response capabilities. |
