Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Kick-Off in Clark County
Clark County, Ohio – The Clark County Safe Communities Coalition, American Automobile Association (AAA), and local, federal and state law enforcement agencies will unite to kick-off the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over National Campaign on August 22nd at Young’s Jersey Dairy. Participants will have the opportunity to attempt an obstacle course while wearing impaired driving goggles. The first 10 people who make it successfully through the course will receive a free ice cream cone.
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, which is a high visibility national enforcement campaign, runs from August 14th through September 2nd, 2019. Increased state and national messages about the dangers of driving impaired, coupled with additional enforcement and increased officers on the road, aim to drastically reduce drunk driving on our nation’s roadways.
Sadly, the statistics prove that we have a lot of work to do to put an end to drunk driving. According to NHTSA, 10,874 people were killed in drunk-driving crashes in 2017. On average, 10,000 people were killed each year from 2013 to 2017—one person killed every 48 minutes in 2017. That’s the equivalent of 20 jumbo jets crashing each year, with no survivors. For this reason, the Clark County Safe Communities Coalition is working to remind drivers that drunk driving is not only illegal, it is a matter of life and death. As you head out to Labor Day festivities, remember: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
Please join the Clark County Safe Communities Coalition, local law enforcement, and AAA as we work together to bring awareness to impaired driving and save lives in Clark County.
